Connect JustGains to any AI assistant

Add JustGains to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client, sign in once, and ask about your lifts, programs and food diary.

JustGains runs a remote MCP server at https://justgains.com/connect/mcp. Any assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol can use it to read your workout logs, programs, bodyweight and food diary, and to save workouts, meals and weigh-ins back to your account. Nothing runs on your computer and there is no API key. You sign in to JustGains in your browser once, and the assistant keeps the connection.

Using Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot or Muse? Each has its own guide with the in-app steps: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Muse. The rest of this page covers coding tools and anything else that lets you add a server by URL.

Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http justgains https://justgains.com/connect/mcp in a terminal. Start Claude Code, type /mcp, pick JustGains and choose Authenticate. Your browser opens the JustGains sign-in, then hands you back to the terminal.

Codex

Run codex mcp add justgains --url https://justgains.com/connect/mcp, then codex mcp login justgains to sign in through your browser. codex mcp list shows JustGains as logged in once it worked.

Cursor

Open Cursor Settings, go to MCP and add a new server, or put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json: { "mcpServers": { "justgains": { "url": "https://justgains.com/connect/mcp" } } }. Cursor then asks you to sign in to JustGains in your browser.

VS Code

Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the server address. To share it with a project instead, add { "servers": { "justgains": { "type": "http", "url": "https://justgains.com/connect/mcp" } } } to .vscode/mcp.json. VS Code asks you to sign in when the server starts.

Any other MCP client

Add a remote server using Streamable HTTP and the address above. JustGains answers the first request with a standard OAuth challenge, so a client that supports MCP authorization finds the sign-in page on its own. Registration happens automatically (dynamic registration or a client metadata document), PKCE is required, and the scopes are workouts, progress and profile. Clients that cannot complete a browser sign-in are not supported yet.

Log nutrition with your AI agent

Tell your connected assistant what you ate and ask it to log the meal in JustGains. It can save several foods in one request, show your daily calories and macros, and correct or remove diary entries when you ask. Follow the guide to logging nutrition with an AI agent or MCP for meal examples, portion estimates and the nutrition tool reference.

What to ask first

Most assistants show JustGains' starter prompts in their prompt or slash menu: plan today's workout, review my week, why is my lift stuck, and log what I ate. Or just ask in your own words:

  • "What did I lift last week, and which muscles did I barely train?"
  • "Has my bench press actually stalled? Look at the last two months."
  • "Build me a 45-minute dumbbell session and save it to JustGains."
  • "Log two eggs, toast and a latte for breakfast."
  • "Log my weight: 182.4 lb."

Weights come back in the units set on your JustGains account, pounds or kilograms, in both the text answers and the workout cards.

Disconnect

Remove JustGains in your assistant (for example claude mcp remove justgains or codex mcp logout justgains). Assistants that sign out properly end the connection on JustGains' side straight away. To be certain, open your JustGains account settings and end the session listed under the assistant's name.
