Instructions

Resistance Band Side Walk Squat

Starting Position:
1. Place the resistance band around your thighs, just above your knees. Ensure it is snug but not too tight.
2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, ensuring your weight is evenly distributed on both feet.
3. Keep your chest lifted and arms positioned in front of you (you can clasp your hands or keep them at your sides).
4. Your feet should be pointed straight ahead or slightly outward.

Movement Instructions:
1. To initiate the squat, push your hips back as if you are going to sit in a chair. Bend your knees and lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground, keeping your weight on your heels.
2. As you squat down, engage your core and ensure that your knees remain behind your toes to avoid strain.
3. Once you reach the squat position, pause briefly.
4. From the squat position, start to walk to the side by taking small steps. Step to the right with your right foot, then follow with your left foot to return to the starting position. Keep tension in the band throughout the movement.
5. Take 3-5 small steps to the right, ensuring your knees are slightly bent and aligned with your toes.
6. After completing the side steps, pause and return to the center.
7. Repeat the side walk squat in the opposite direction, stepping to the left.
8. Continue alternating sides for a total of 3-4 sets of 8-10 repetitions per side.

Tips for Success:
- Keep your chest lifted and back straight during the exercise.
- Control your movements; avoid rushing through the steps.
- Focus on using your hips and glutes to power the movement rather than relying solely on your legs.
- If at any point the exercise feels too difficult, stand upright and practice the squat movement without the side steps before trying again.
