Instructions

Swing and Forward Step

Starting Position

1. Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart.
2. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides.
3. Engage your core muscles for stability.

Movement Instructions

1. Swing the Arms: Begin by swinging your right arm forward and your left arm backward simultaneously.
2. Step Forward: As you swing your arms, take a step forward with your right foot. Ensure your step is long enough to help you gain balance.
3. Transition: As you bring your right foot forward, switch your arm swing. Now swing your left arm forward and your right arm backward while stepping forward with your left foot.
4. Repeat: Continue alternating between legs, swinging your arms in opposition to your stepping foot. Aim for a smooth and rhythmic motion.
5. Breathing: Inhale as you prepare to step and exhale as you step forward.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

- Overreaching: Don’t overextend your steps; maintain a comfortable distance.
- Arm Movement: Ensure your arm swings are synchronized with your steps for effective balance.

Tips for Beginners

- Start slowly to master the movement pattern before increasing speed.
- Focus on posture; keep your back straight and head up.
- If you find it challenging to maintain balance, make smaller steps until you feel more stable.
