Instructions

Setup

  • Start in a wide-stance sumo squat position with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart and toes pointed slightly outward.

  • Squat down until your hips are below your knees, keeping your chest up and back straight.

  • Reach down and grab the top of your feet or toes with both hands, keeping your arms inside your legs.

The Movement

  • Begin the ascent by pushing through your heels to straighten your legs while maintaining a grip on your toes.

  • Keep your head down and look back towards your legs as you move into a forward fold position.

  • Once your legs are fully extended or you feel a deep stretch in your hamstrings, pause momentarily.

  • Return to the squat position by bending your knees and dropping your hips back down towards the floor.

  • Keep your chest held up and spine neutral while in the bottom, deep-squat phase of the movement.

  • Ensure constant tension in your legs throughout the full range of motion.
