Star to Body Tuck
Instructions
Starting Position
Lie flat on your back on an exercise mat with your legs extended and arms stretched out wide above your head, forming an 'X' shape or a 'star' with your body.
Execution
Core Engagement: Inhale deeply, bracing your core muscles tightly by pulling your navel toward your spine.
The Tuck: In one continuous, explosive movement, lift your shoulders and legs off the floor simultaneously.
Compression: Bring your knees toward your chest while wrapping your arms around your legs to pull them close, curling your spine into a tight, compact ball shape.
Extension: Exhale as you slowly reverse the movement, extending your legs back out and reaching your arms back above your head to return to your starting position, ensuring your lower back maintains contact with the mat.
Key Tips
Keep Control: Avoid using momentum to swing your body; focus on using your abdominal strength to initiate the lift.
Lower Back Safety: If you feel discomfort in your lower back, keep your legs slightly higher and do not fully extend them toward the floor during the 'star' phase.
