Instructions

Setup

  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width.

  • Ideally, set up at a power rack, but if performing from the floor, clean the bar to your chest (the rack position) with palms facing forward.

Execution

  • Pressing Phase: Brace your core, squeeze your glutes, and press the bar directly overhead in a straight line until your arms are fully extended.

  • Top Position: Briefly pause at the top of the movement with your elbows locked and your shoulders active. Keep your head slightly back to let the bar pass your chin.

  • Lowering Phase: With control, lower the bar back down to the rack position at your upper chest level.

  • Stability: Avoid leaning backward excessively; maintain a vertical torso throughout the movement to focus tension on the deltoids.
