Instructions

Setup

Begin by standing tall on the yoga mat in a neutral, athletic stance with your core engaged.

Movement Pattern

  1. Reverse Lunge: Take a controlled step backward with one leg, lowering your hips until both knees are bent at approximately a 90-degree angle. Keep your torso upright and your front knee aligned over your ankle.

  2. Transition: Push through the heel of your front foot to stand back up, fluidly driving the back leg forward.

  3. Forward Kick: As you return to a standing position, continue driving the moving leg upward and extend it into a controlled forward kick. Keep your core tight to maintain balance during the kick.

  4. Return: Lower the leg back to the starting stance in a controlled manner.

Tips for Success

  • Maintain a steady gaze forward to help with balance.

  • Keep your core braced throughout the movement to support your lower back.

  • Perform all reps on one side before switching to the other.
