Side Child Pose Version I
Gently stretch your lats and obliques with the Side Child Pose. By reaching to the side, you deepen the classic restorative pose to release spinal tension and improve lateral flexibility.
Instructions
Setup
Begin in a standard Child's Pose position, kneeling on a mat with your big toes touching and knees spread wider than your hips.
Sit your hips back onto your heels.
Movement
From the center, walk both of your hands as far as comfortable toward your right side.
Reach through your fingertips to create length in the side of your torso.
Keep your hips firmly grounded on or near your heels to maximize the stretch in your lats and obliques.
Lower your head and chest down toward the floor, keeping your shoulders relaxed.
Breathe deeply into the side of your lungs that is facing up towards the ceiling to deepen the stretch.
