Reach Through Side-Plank with Side Leg Lift
Instructions
Starting Position
Begin by lying on your side with your legs extended and your feet stacked or one in front of the other.
Prop yourself up on your forearm, ensuring your elbow is directly underneath your shoulder.
Lift your hips off the floor until your body forms a straight line from your head to your feet. Extend your free arm straight up toward the ceiling.
The Movements
Reach Through: From the top position, rotate your torso downward and reach your raised hand underneath your body, following your hand with your eyes until your torso is parallel to the ground.
Leg Lift: As you return to the starting position and re-extend your arm, simultaneously perform a lateral abduction (lift) of the top leg, raising it as high as comfortable while keeping your hips stable.
Return: Lower your leg back to the starting position as you bring your arm back up to the ceiling before repeating the next repetition.
Form Tips
Keep your core engaged throughout the entire movement to prevent your hips from sagging.
Ensure your shoulder remains active and does not collapse onto your neck.
Move in a slow, controlled manner to maximize core stabilization.
