Instructions

Setup

  • Start in a forearm plank position, resting on your forearms with elbows directly under your shoulders.

  • Keep your body in a straight line from your head to your heels, engaging your core and glutes.

  • Place a single dumbbell on the mat in front of one arm.

Movement

  • Keeping your core braced to prevent your hips from rocking, reach the hand closest to the dumbbell forward and grasp it.

  • Lift the arm straight out in front of you until it is parallel to the ground.

  • Hold for a brief moment at the top before slowly lowering the dumbbell back to the mat.

  • Return to the starting forearm plank position.

  • Switch arms or repeat the movement, focusing on maintaining total torso stability throughout each lift.

Form Tips

  • Avoid hip rotation: If you feel your hips shifting, widen your feet slightly to increase your base of support.

  • Control the weight: Move deliberately rather than swinging the dumbbell to maximize the engagement of your core and shoulders.
