Instructions

Assisted Sit-Up

Positioning:
1. Have the person performing the exercise (the "exerciser") lie on their back on a flat surface, ensuring their knees are bent and feet flat on the floor.
2. The partner assisting (the "assistant") should kneel down beside the exerciser, ready to provide support.

**Movement 1. The exerciser should place their hands gently behind their head or cross their arms over their chest, whichever is more comfortable.
2. The assistant should grip the exerciser's ankles or hold their feet securely to prevent them from rising during the movement.
3. The exerciser then engages their core and begins to lift their upper body off the ground, curling upwards while keeping their feet anchored.
4. They should exhale during the upward movement, aiming to lift their shoulder blades off the mat while keeping their neck neutral.
5. Once the exerciser reaches the top of the movement, they should hold for a brief second before slowly lowering back down to the starting position, inhaling as they descend.
6. Repeat this movement for the desired number of repetitions, ensuring that the assistant provides consistent support throughout.

Tips for Beginners:
- Focus on engaging your core throughout the entire motion.
- Avoid pulling on your neck while lifting; use your abdominal muscles instead.
- If you feel discomfort or strain, stop and reassess your form.
